Congratulations! If you are pregnant or just thinking about conception, we are pleased to have you as an obstetrical patient and look forward to helping you make this a wonderful pregnancy.

The upcoming birth of a child is a time of excitement, joy, and at times - anxiety. As your chosen physicians and nurse-midwives we are with you and your family every step of the way. The providers at Habersham OB/GYN Associates are associated because we have a strong sense of mutual respect for one another as well as our patients.

Our team of physicians and certified midwives will provide your obstetrical care during the course of your pregnancy. Although your first visit will usually be with a Certified Nurse-Midwife, your appointments will be rotated amongst the Physicians and Certified Nurse-Midwives in order to be familiar with all providers who may be on call for labor and delivery.

If you are having a normal pregnancy, you will visit our office monthly until you reach the last 3 months of your pregnancy, at which time, you will come every two weeks until the last month, when you will come weekly until delivery.

We would be happy to schedule a consult with any of our providers so that you can meet and discuss any concerns or questions you may have. We look forward to providing your obstetrical care.

2-D and 3-D Ultrasound Photo Packages:

In addition to obstetrical care, we at Habersham OB/Gyn are pleased to offer 2-D and 3-D Ultrasound. We know that from the time you learn you are pregnant you wonder, what will my baby look like? Will he have my eyes and his nose? With the clarity of our 3-D ultrasound you can almost count those "10 little piggies" before your child is born. We will show you exactly what you baby looks like sleeping, yawning, smiling or even sticking out their tongue! You can watch the changes as they happen on the 3-D ultrasound monitor! With the ARDMS/AIUM certified staff at Habersham OB/GYN, you will certainly have the benefit of current, cutting-edge, in-utero visualization techniques.

Because the experience of your ultrasound is so exciting and eventful, we are pleased to capture the moment for you with photo packages. Because the results of 3D Ultrasounds are best during certain weeks of pregnancy, be sure to speak to your provider about when the right time is for you to schedule your ultrasound.

What Is A Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM)?

Certified nurse-midwives (CNMs) are licensed healthcare practitioners educated in the two disciplines of nursing and midwifery. Certified nurse-midwives (CNMs) are Registered Nurses who possess a Masters Degree, have graduated from an accredited education program and passed a rigorous certification exam. Because of the high standards established for education and certification, CNMs are licensed in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Today's CNM is a skilled healthcare professional who provides primary healthcare to women. This includes evaluation, assessment, treatment, and referral to a specialist, if required. CNMs emphasize health promotion, education, and disease prevention. They provide preconception counseling, care during pregnancy and childbirth, normal gynecological services, and care of the peri- and post-menopausal woman. With health education as a primary focus, CNMs help prevent problems and assist women in developing and maintaining good health habits. They attend over 10 percent of the births in the United States. 96 percent of these births are in hospitals. They are experts, held to the rigorous standards of practice set by the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) and by state licensing organizations. They attend continuing education programs offered by hospitals, universities, and ACNM.
